A fructose-free birthday!

It's the end of week 2 and it's Nathan's 8th birthday party! We have 12,  8 year old boys coming over and Nathan has such a limited food list how can we do it? Not only did we do it but the kids loved the food!!

Say goodbye to canned frosting and sheet pizza. No bowls of carrots, cut up apples and grapes. Which are usually staples at our birthday parties!

The home-made frosting cake & cupcakes- okay so I'm a pretty good baker (come's with having 3 kids) but my home-made frosting is usually saved for sugar cookies.

Not this time! Here is a pic of my "too much butter frosted cake"- I used the old vanilla, milk (read that label!) and powdered sugar and butter recipe- it looked melty but it was so yummy the kids loved it & it made my son feel so special that the entire party was fructose free!! (the next cake was better!)

No more juice boxes- we had bottles of water and pitchers of kool-aid.

Instead of fruit we had chips- what 8 year doesn't love chips!!

Bye bye pizza- we had yummy turkey and ham sandwiches without tomatoes- all of Nate's buddies understood why we we're eating what we were eating and they loved it!

No greasy-ness here! In fact the boys loved the cake so much each kid had cake & a cupcake- and here I was worried the boys (being more used to cake with canned frosting) wouldn't like it!!

And it really didn't cost anymore. We had the boys eat their sandwiches on sub rolls that do contain fructose and ante's had his on his 8 grain whole wheat fructose free roll. It all went smoothly!!

SO if you are planning your kid's birthday there are options out there and kid's understand. They just want their buddy to be healthy and to have fun!
